Annotatsiya: The article is devoted to investigate historical development of lexicography and educational dictionaries in the English and Uzbek languages. The article first describes development of English language lexicography emphasizing the number of lexical units included into dictionaries. The three stages of the development of Uzbek lexicography is also discussed in the article. Comparison between English and Uzbek lexicography is carried out at the end of the article.
