平安時代の子女教育・教養論の研究 A STUDY OF THE THEORY OF EDUCATION FOR MEN AND WOMEN DURING THE HEIAN PERIOD

Author: Kurbonova, Gulnoza; Borankulova, Samal

Annotation: The article discusses the state of men and women education, mainly in the Heian period. Men were educated in Daigaku-ryo (Bureau of Education under the Ritsuryo system), instructors’ private schools or at home. On the other hand, women were educated at home under their parents, menoto (wet nurses), and nyoubou (female servant who served the imperial court and high-ranking people in the aristocratic society), and received the education of the waka poems, tenarai (calligraphy), and musical instrument. In addition, women had the necessary dyeing and sewing skills as housewives. Most are practical. It can be seen that there were differences in the content and educational policies of women’ education depending on their family and the future decided by their parents.
