Annotation: This article examines the forms of address used in Hong Lou Meng (Dream of the Red Chamber), one of the masterpieces of classical Chinese literature, from a sociolinguistic perspective. Through the analysis of address forms employed in the novel, the study explores the social stratification, family hierarchy, cultural values, and interpersonal relationships characteristic of Qing Dynasty Chinese society. The research provides a comparative analysis of the forms of address used among masters, servants, and external characters, highlighting their pragmatic and sociocultural functions within the narrative.
