Annotation: This article analyzes, based on primary sources, the essence and content of the concept of “knowledge” in Islamic teachings, its virtues, its role in human life, and its significance in the educational process. In particular, it highlights the definitions of knowledge provided by classical scholars, as well as its lexical and terminological meanings. Furthermore, drawing on Qur’anic verses and hadiths, the article elucidates the virtue of knowledge, its role in human spiritual perfection, and its importance in moral upbringing. The article also provides a critical analysis of the pleasure and benefits of knowledge, its impact on human life, and the factors that have led to the criticism of certain types of knowledge. In addition, it explains the classification and order of sciences within the educational process, their interrelationships, and their degrees of priority based on the concepts of fard ‘ayn (individual obligation) and fard kifayah (collective obligation). It also demonstrates that the significance of various sciences differs according to the needs of society and highlights their role in practical life. The findings of the study show that knowledge is not only a source of spiritual perfection but also a key factor in ensuring societal development and stability.
