Annotation: . Current article considers the theoretical issues of hieroglyphic writing. In particular, the question of the relationship between conceptual and associative principles in hieroglyphic writing. It is known that a number of Far Eastern languages used or still use hieroglyphic writing. In this regard, it becomes necessary to clarify the point of contact of the transmitted meaning by the hieroglyphs and their further participation in the creation of new hieroglyphs. In order to do this, it is necessary to trace the relationship between the concept and the associations that arise in a person at the sight of a specific hieroglyph. The results of such a study clarify how the concept conveyed by one hieroglyph is related to its associations, as well as the participation of this hieroglyph in the development of the vocabulary of the language, as a component both in a complex hieroglyph and in a complex word.
