Annotation: In the Hindu pantheon, goddesses occupy a special place and one of the most revered among them is the goddess Lakshmi. Lakshmi, as the consort of the god Vishnu, serves to maintain balance and prosperity in the universe. This article analyzes the role of goddess Lakshmi in Hindu mythology, her origin and place in Indian culture.
