Annotation: On the basis of the developed assessment criteria, the article reflects the results of a pre-experimental section conducted among philological students who study Chinese. The purpose of the pre-experimental cut is to determine the level of knowledge of the culture of the speakers of the target language, their way of life, vision of the world, customs, traditions, etc. in intercultural interaction. The results of the pre-experimental section made it possible to establish the reasons for the current level of formation of intercultural competence of students in order to further develop the concept of cognitive-discursive teaching of intercultural communication of students in teaching Chinese.
