Annotation: The article examines the key philosophical, methodological and ethical aspects related to the formation of artificial intelligence (AI) as an independent scientific discipline. The article analyzes the historical stages of AI development, modern challenges and prospects, as well as the problems that arise when trying to create a "strong" AI with consciousness and the ability to self-learn. Special attention is paid to the issues of defining criteria for the "intelligence" of machines, the problems of responsibility for AI actions and the possible impact of AI on the future of mankind.
