Annotation: Uzbekistan stepped up gender equality reforms after 2017, and the government has regularly declared women's empowerment and gender equality a priority since then. With the adoption of two laws on gender equality, “On Guarantees of Equal Rights and Opportunities for Women and Men” and “On the Protection of Women from Harassment and Violence” in 2019, the movement received new impetus in Uzbekistan, culminating in the adoption in 2021 of the Strategy for Achieving gender equality in Uzbekistan until 2030.
