Author: Raximdjanova, Dilnavoz Sunnat qizi

Annotation: This article examines the views of Socrates, a prominent representative of ancient Greek philosophy, on freedom. The article analyzes how Socrates interpreted freedom not only as political and social independence. But also as moral and spiritual. Socrates believed that true freedom is manifested in a person's inner freedom, that is, in making their own conscious decisions and living on the basis of moral values. His ideas about freedom ensure the achievement of stability in society, mainly due to the predominance of personal consciousness and moral duty. Socrates' approach, presented as a process of cognition and study of freedom, is also evident in his philosophical dialogues. The study of Socrates’ thoughts on freedom in this article allows us to understand his approach to the value system and the place of man in society.

Keywords: freedom, moral freedom, cognition, inner freedom, spiritual values, moral duty, independence, personal freedom, thinking.
