Since it was given to Tur, they began to call it Turan, that is, the property of Tur. Turan was surrounded by Takharistan and Mount Chatrol to the south, the cities of Khorezm to the north, the Kipchak steppe, and the Juffon River (Caspian Sea) to the southwest, Khorasan, and the lands of Turkestan and Mongolia to the east.
