Annotation: The large-scale translation of Western literature, culture, and science works, which began in China at the end of the 19th century, played an imperative role in the evolution of Chinese literature, both in form and content. The article examines the role of such changes and updates in the emergence and development of modern Chinese literature under the influence of translated literature.
