Annotation: The article describes the interpretation of freedom and its place in human activity in the socio-political thoughts of Abu Nasr al-Farabi, one of the representatives of the Eastern Perepathetism direction. Also, the imperfect views of the state are divided into categories, and each of them is discussed separately. The role of freedom in the views of the philosopher on the characteristics of ignorant cities in each category is studied. His point of view has been compared with the thoughts of Plato, a representative of ancient classical philosophy. The relationship between them was analyzed using the comparative method. In the process of studying the views of the society, the conclusions about the influence of freedom on people were considered.
