Annotation: The article reveals the formation of the genre of travel notes about Central Asia that occurred in the 18th century in Russian literature under the influence of a whole range of factors: political, economic and social and the transition of genre units into the system of literature, that is, a general cultural discourse that ensured the need for country studies, and eventually - historical , analysis and commenting.
