Annotation: This article describes the dictionaries created in Uzbek linguistics from the period of the Old Uzbek literary language to the middle of the 20th century, as well as the contribution of academician Azim Hajiyev to the development of lexicography of the Uzbek language. The article discusses dictionaries of synonyms created by a scientist in the middle of the 20th century, and the reflection of the stylistic meaning of words in the synonymous series, as well as scientific views and dictionaries on the correct use of linguistic terms created during the period of independence. These dictionaries reflect the structure of spelling dictionaries in the Uzbek Latin alphabet and the scientific views of scientists on lexicology.
