Annotation: This article provides an overview of the biochemical mechanisms underlying the development of diabetes mellitus, including a detailed review of symptoms, causes and risk factors. Current strategies for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of this disease are discussed. It is noted that a healthy lifestyle plays a key role in the maintenance of diabetes mellitus, emphasizing the importance of a comprehensive approach to the management of this disease.
