Annotation: The article deals with the issues of continuity in teaching writing in English at Uzbekistan colleges and universities, identifies the challenges of modernity in respect to the level of acquisition of written English, presents recommendations on strengthening the practice-orientated teaching writing. According to the author to reveal the features of teaching writing, as a type of speech activity, is very important factor in teaching foreign languages at universities. The author emphasizes the key elements in this process.
