Annotation: The article examines theoretical and practical aspects of developing students' communicative competence in Russian language classes. Modern approaches and methods of developing communicative skills are analyzed, effective teaching strategies are defined. Based on the analysis of scientific literature, the main components of communicative competence and ways of its development are identified.
