Annotation: Based on the theory of cognitive linguistics, this article discusses the description of metaphors and their inextricable connection with culture. Also, the concept of "water" and its use as a metaphor in "Beowulf" is considered. The meaning of the concept of "water" was analyzed using metaphors.
