Annotation: This article is written in the spirit of the field of literary studies, in which comparative analysis takes an important place. The article provides extensive information about the concept of happiness, its importance in literary studies, and how it is expressed in different cultures. The basis of the article is the understanding of the concept of happiness in two works written in different national spirit: "Jenny Gerhardt" by Theodore Dreiser and "Oydinda yurgan odamlar" by Togay Murad.
