Annotation: All languages have departments of linguistics, and the department of lexicology has such types as synonyms, antonyms, paronyms, and homonyms. Through these, the vocabulary of languages increases. What exactly are synonyms in this article? the concept of them, their types, the use of synonyms in English and Uzbek, as well as their place and importance were mentioned. Similarities, differences, examples and explanations of synonyms in Uzbek and English languages are also shown.
