Annotation: The new directions of linguistics that have emerged in the 21st century require the study of language phenomena based on new perspectives, criteria, and norms. The field of linguistics and cultural studies, which appeared as an intersection of linguistics and other sciences, led to the introduction of new concepts such as "language landscape of the world", "concept", "discourse". In this article, modern directions of research of metaphor as a specific way of understanding and expressing the world were explored.
