Annotation: This article analyzes the issue of text periodization in corpus linguistics and its theoretical and practical approaches on a global scale. Periodization criteria, methods and automated analysis technologies are studied in historical corpora created in different languages. In particular, on the example of diachronic corpus created in English, the experiments of defining time boundaries, setting time based on linguistic features, as well as historical classification of texts using artificial intelligence and machine learning tools are considered. The results of the study are emphasized in the framework of corpus linguistics for the study of the historical dynamics of texts, the identification of semantic changes and the modeling of language development.
