Annotation: We have studied the low-temperature photoluminescence spectra of a thin and fine-grained polycrystalline CdTe layer in an n-CdS / p-CdTe film heterostructure. It is shown that, upon frontal excitation by an Ar + laser, the spectrum consists of the dominant intrinsic () band and its phonon repetition, while under back illumination of the CdS photoresist layer, an asymmetric doublet emission line of excitons and a broad line of shallow donor-acceptor pairs ignite instead of them.
