Annotation: This review article explores the importance of tumor markers in oncology, highlighting their role as key tools for understanding cancer biology, developing treatment strategies and innovative diagnostic methods. The article highlights the metabolic features of tumor cells and tumor tissue, the biochemistry of carcinogenesis, the main types of tumor markers, their significance for the diagnosis and monitoring of cancer, as well as the prospects for their use in clinical practice.
