Annotation: The article describes the history of the study of ancient distributary of the Amu Darya Uzboy. The data of Greek, Roman authors and medieval figures are analyzed. This is compared with the studies conducted of this area. The issues of developing the Sarykamysh Lake, the Dovdon and Daryalyk basins, and the ancient channels of the Amu Darya are also discussed.
