Annotation: Breast cancer is a common type of cancer among women, and about 1.7 million new cases are reported worldwide every year. HER2-positive breast cancer is an aggressive form of the disease associated with a high risk of recurrence, distant metastases and rapid tumor growth. The preferred method for determining the status of HER2/neu is radionuclide diagnostics using alternative scaffold proteins that effectively deliver radionuclides to tumor cells. Treatment of HER2-positive breast cancer may include surgery followed by chemotherapy and hormone therapy or preoperative neoadjuvant therapy.
