“TARIXI FARG‘ONA” ASARIDA ARAB TILIDAN O‘ZLASHGAN SO‘ZLARNING LЕKSIK-SЕMANTIK XUSUSIYATLARI

Author: Azizov, Murodjon

Annotation: This article analyzes the lexical-semantic features of Arabic loanwords in Tarixi Fargʻona, a historical work authored by Is’hoqxon Toʻra Ibrat at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The study reveals that Arabic borrowings are primarily associated with Islamic culture, spirituality, education, and governance. Terms such as ilm (knowledge), hikmat (wisdom), ma’rifat (enlightenment), madrasah (educational institution), and masjid (mosque) illustrate the religious and intellectual life of the people. The research demonstrates that many of these words expanded their meanings in Uzbek, functioning both in direct and figurative senses. Through these loanwords, the text emphasizes justice, morality, and the role of knowledge in social development. Thus, Arabic borrowings in Tarixi Fargʻona not only enriched the Uzbek lexicon but also strengthened its expressive power, making the work significant for both historical and linguistic studies.

Keywords: Tarixi Fargona, Arabic loanwords, lexical semantics, Is’hoqxon Toʻra Ibrat, Uzbek linguistics, Islamic terminology.
