Annotation: This article analyzes the legal status, procedural powers, rights and obligations of the investigator as a person responsible for conducting criminal proceedings. Through this, the criminal-procedural legislation that regulates the activity of the investigator was studied, its shortcomings and disputed norms were discussed. Also, the guarantees of the independence of the investigator, the practical problems arising in ensuring it, and the measures to eliminate them were analyzed. In the article, the influence of control bodies in the implementation of the activity of the investigator, in particular, the importance and necessity of departmental control, the interaction of the prosecutor who is the person responsible for the preliminary investigation with the investigator, the role of the prosecutor's control and judicial control in ensuring the independence of the investigator is scientifically theoretical. analyzed in terms of In the article, a scientific discussion was held based on the affirmative or negative opinions of proceduralist scientists who conducted scientific research on the issues mentioned above, existing practical problems were studied based on the recommendations of responsible persons engaged in investigative activities, and judicial relevant materials of investigative practice were studied. At the end of the article, a number of suggestions and recommendations are given to optimize the influence of the prosecutor and court control in ensuring the independence of the investigator, which serve to increase the importance of the studied topic today.
