Annotation: The article presents a number of practical techniques and mathematical modeling methods for taking measures to reduce friction of rolling stock in the “wheel-rail” system, as well as research by foreign experts in this field (determining lubricant and steel of the optimal type of grade) and shows the results obtained and the possibility of achieving success when applying these methods to local rail transport.
