Annotation: This article examines the oxidation of pyrite (FeS2) contained in the concentrate obtained during the flotation process under various conditions. In the study, hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and organic acids were used as oxidizing agents, and the process itself was conducted in a highly acidic environment. The influence of pH, ODP (oxidation-reduction potential), temperature, and additional reagents on the main process parameters was studied. As the main object of research, the oxidation of pyrite contained in the flotation concentrate of the NKMK JSC hydrometallurgical plant under various conditions was studied experimentally. The obtained results are of scientific and practical importance for selecting and optimizing the technology of hydrometallurgical processing of sulfide concentrates.
Keywords: hydrometallurgy, sulfide concentrate, pyrite (FeS2), arsenopyrite (FeAsS), trivalent iron ion (Fe3+), oxidation kinetics, reduction mechanism, oxidation-reduction potential, environmental safety, noble metals, energy-saving technology.
