Annotation: This article analyzes the place of V.V. Bartold’s scholarly legacy in the historiography of Uzbekistan. Based on his works on Turkestan, Mawarannahr, the Timurid period, historical geography, and source studies, the paper examines his scholarly approach and his influence on modern Uzbek historiography. It also discusses the reinterpretation and critical reassessment of Bartold’s legacy during the independence period.
