Annotation: The metaphors used in “Hojoki” and “Tsureduregusa” that written during the Kamakura period were analyzed and divided into groups based on Lakoff and Johnson concept. The religious and philosophical meanings of metaphors were considered. The 26 metaphors of “Hojoki” and 50 metaphors in “Tsureduregusa” were analyzed and their target or source domains were defined.
