Annotation: Between 2010 and 2015, civil society in Uzbekistan demonstrated growth in both quantity and quality, with the formation of independent NGOs (non-profit organizations) and human rights institutions, adaptive rights protection, an enhanced legislative culture, and the development of regulations. Despite difficulties associated with NGO funding, an expansion of criminal offenses was observed, with active work coordinated by the Independent Institute for Monitoring the Formation of Society (IIMFOS).
