Annotation: The article examines how innovations in the field of information technology and the widespread use of social networks have an impact on the Russian language. The author analyzes the impact of modern technologies on the lexical composition of the Russian language, based on examples from online communication and media content. Special attention is paid to new words and borrowings that have come into use as a result of the popularity of social networks.
