Annotation: This article examines the most pressing problems: 1) nurturing students’ interest in learning the Russian language; 2) awareness by students of the ultimate goal of studying the Russian language (formation of a linguistic personality); 3) clarification of the content of the Russian language course; 4) creation of new generation Russian language textbooks; 5) instilling in students a high culture of Russian speech; 6) maintaining the purity of the Russian language; 7) development of coherent speech of students; 8) ideological-political, patriotic, moral, aesthetic education of students in the process of teaching the Russian language. The article contains recommendations for solving these problems.
